Getting Insane With INSANITY

Fitness is most definitely not an obsession of mine, but every so often I go on a health kick. In my daily life I live, breathe, and preach about the benefits of healthy eating, but I am one hundred percent guilty of skipping work outs and honestly just not exercising all together. I use to find myself subconsciously criticizing people who would say “I don’t have time to go to the gym” however, working fulltime, taking care of our home and our daughter, and being married to my OFM, I literally do not have a minute to spare for the gym. When Daddy is away life is nothing short of crazy busy! I, for the most part, was ok about not “sweating to the oldies” on a daily basis, yet from time to time I jump on the exercise band wagon and my latest adventure is INSANITY!

INSANITY first sparked my interest because I could do it at home, thus I did not need to drop other priorities to squeeze in gym minutes. I was nervous to start the work outs because in all honesty my last form of “working out” consisted of water aerobics with about a dozen senior citizens and that was through my pregnancy three years ago!  I was rusty to say the very least! I have been doing the program for a few weeks now and besides feeling like I was going into cardiac arrest the first few days I really am loving it! I was never a fan of “at home” work outs but INSANITY is different and it is intense. Before I had our daughter, I was pretty athletic. I did some rather intense training and practices and I have to say INSANITY is right up there with any athletic conditioning I ever did even before college. These work outs make you use every muscle, every part of your body feels like it is burning and you are literally dripping it sweat, it is awesome! My average workout I burn 500-600 calories, it is INSANE. It still amazes me I can get such a great work out in my home and I can do it as my schedule allows.

INSANITY can be accommodating for the stay at home or working mamas! My schedule I have nailed down looks something like this: I get off work, make/ have dinner, do my chores, get  my little one bathed and in bed , then I do my work out in the living room. Sometimes after working eight hours and putting in the few hours at home, I am exhausted, but doing these work outs makes me feel so rested and energized the next morning! You usually get a rest day, Sunday, and then your nightly work out is about 45 minutes. You have a calendar to track your results and if you do the deluxe package like we purchased you even get a “meal planner” with recommended calorie intake and meal ideas!

When my husband is on his hitch I struggle with finding time. When my husband is home I struggle with taking any time away from being with him. The gym works great for lots of people but just did not for me and being a working OFW. Being able to work out at home and during the hours that wouldn’t take away from my job or family has been great for me. No “scouts honor” that I will continue to get INSANE on a daily basis, but it has been a refreshing change of pace and even if I do fall off the wagon again at least I know the option is still there. Staying healthy and active sometimes takes creativity and I’d love to hear how all of you do it! I’m still debating doing T-25 next! What is everyone else doing out there?
