(Double points for anyone who realized the title is from a Jack Johnson song!)
It is very hard for me to believe that at the end of this month, Hubby and I will have been married for 5 years. In those five years, I would wager we have actually spent about three together. With all of the time spent apart, I have learned that the best way to stay connected is by having projects to do together. Just being in the same house for a few weeks is not enough. You get bored and then you end up bonding more with your computer or television than your husband.
Not sure of what activities you and your honey might enjoy? Here are some ideas:
1) Exercise- A lot of couples bond over working out together. Hit the gym or the local walking trail. Maybe enter a fun race like the Warrior Dash or Run For Your Lives.
2) Tours- Are there wineries in your area? Find a sitter for the kiddos and make a day out of sampling wines. Or, if you are like the Hubby and I, find a local brewery that does tours. (We really, really love craft beer.)
3) Take lessons- Be it cooking or dancing, do learn together!
4) Home improvement- Just this past hitch home, Hubby and I planted a flower garden. Ashley, our daughter, even got in on the fun.
Our humble garden.
5) Make something- This might sound vague, but stick with me. Since the Hubby and I love craft beer so much, we have decided to try our hand at brewing. We have a lot of ideas for recipes and are having fun coming up with our own labels. (I’ll let y’all know how that turns out in a few weeks.) Do you both have a passion for something? Tap into that!
It doesn’t really matter what you do as long as you are doing it as a couple. Involve the kids in some activities, but try to find time for just you and your husband.
What are some things you and your significant other like to do together? Leave a comment or send me a tweet @Ofwjaimie!
